The time and place is North America, 2049. A certain capital city near the formerly-known-as U.S.A. border has been razed and rebuilt to be Utopion, home of Praxis Labs, the research conglomerate responsible for bridging humans and technology. Those who Bridge become citizens of Utopion, a technocratic utopia (or is it?).
Praxis Labs relies on the mineral Omnium to facilitate the bridging surgeries and power the Bridged individuals. But Omnium belongs to the Gods. And the Gods will stop at nothing to get it back.
Through the lens of the Science Fantasy genre, the story of The Fracture imagines the trajectory of our technocratic society’s rapid progress with artificial intelligence and human-android integration.
In plainer terms, we thought about what it would be like to be fucked by technological advancement, and then added a cosmic consequence (the Gods) to create a world fractured by titanic conflict.
But there is hope. Within our fractured world live the Forgotten, our future descendants, those who will survive the war between advancement and consequence. They hold the stories that drive many of the narratives within the world of The Fracture, some of which have already been published. https://variantlit.com/walmart-population-four/ (https://variantlit.com/walmart-population-four/)
